  Passed away peacefully on June 6, 2017 at the Montfort Hospital at the age of 81. Son of the late Pierre Whissell and the late Laurette Paquette. Beloved husband of Cécile Lessard, married for 60 years. Loving father of Francine (Dan), Suzanne (Daniel), Charles (Louise), Jo-Anne (Michael), Lynne (Ken) and Pierre (Josée). Cherished grandfather of Marlena, Kenneth, Ashley, Kyle, Kayla, Philip, Patrick, Chantal, Danielle, Jean Michel, Mathieu, Jean-Paul, Casie, Suzanne-Lynne, Tanya-Lynne, Brooke, Keanen, Roxanne and Joel, as well as great-grandfather to 18 great-grandchildren. Dear brother of Lucille, Hélène (recently deceased) and Robert. He also leaves many nephews, nieces and friends. He was also predeceased by many brothers and sisters. The family would like to thank the ICU at the Montfort Hospital for the excellent care provided. Family and friends may pay their respects on Wednesday June 14, 2017 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Racine, Robert & Gauthier Funeral Home (180 Montreal Road, Ottawa). A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday June 15, 2017 at 10 a.m. at Racine, Robert & Gauthier Funeral Home Chapel (180 Montreal Road, Ottawa). The family will receive condolences from 8:30 a.m. In Memory of Mr. Whissell, donations to the Lung Cancer of Canada would be appreciated.
