Outre son épouse bien-aimée, il laisse dans le deuil ses enfants: Denis, Richard (Brigitte Lafleur), Francine (Michael Morin), Sylvie (Raymond Sabourin), Ginette (André Lavictoire) et Sonia; 10 petits-enfants: Shawn, Jennifer, Tania, Jonathan, Richard, Katrine, Mathieu, Alexandre, Luc et Marc; 1 frère, Jean-Pierre (Rita Godmaire); 1 soeur, Monique (feu Roger Whissell), ainsi que plusieurs neveux, nièces et ami(e)s.     Eugene a travaille pendant 6 ou 7 ans dans les chantiers de la compagnie Gillis comme laveur de linge, bucheron surtout dans la region de Fort Coulonge, Quebec. Il n'avait que 14 ans environ a sa premiere annee de chantier. D'ailleurs il a achete un violon pour $1.00 dans le temps d'un allemand qu'il a remit a son fils Bill. Mon oncle Bill l'a encore. Le violon fut construit en 1927 et etait une copie d'une certaine sorte de Stratevarius de 1734.

    Christmas and New Year's eve was special at the Whissell household. Who can forget Grandma Whissell's Christmas tree? It was decorated with the most beautiful bubbly liquid ornaments and the greatest XMAS balls ever. And what to say about the live orchestra! We had uncle Jean-Marie Larose at the drums, uncle Bill at the bass, uncle Roger the dancer, and all sorts of songs (chansons â répondre) such as the famous Awignaeheh Catherinette a les pieds su'l camp.

    Aujourd'hui ou se trouve IGA sur la rue Beechwood, l'ancien Joanisse, sur cette propriete(anciennement coin rue Elmwood et Catherine) se trouvait 3 maisons appartenants a la famille Champagne. Une des maisons appartenait a Gilbert, l'autre a Victor, et la derniere a la mere. Ce coin s'appelait la cour a bois Champagne. D'apres mon oncle Willie Whissell.

    Joseph Whissell spent most of his life at the Brockville Asylum after being admitted on Apr 16th 1915 until his death on the 13th January 1942.     Uncle William Whissell says that Joseph Whissell was an auto mechanic, very good at car body work, that he owned 2 houses in Hull, which he sold prior to moving to Vars, Ontario on a farm. That he had a nervous breakdown after his cows contacted a disease which killed most of them, that he was brought to Brockville, Ontario as a patient when Yvette was only 5 or 6 years old. He remained in Brockville until his death 35 years later. He was brought to Notre-Dame cemetery in Hull and buried in a common grave # 2244.

    Some say she died of cancer following an accident while ploughing her field with an ox. Apparently one of the handles she was holding struck her in the abdomen initiating the cancer.
